Should you be judged by the clothes you wear?

Should you be judged by the clothes you wear? It happens daily. Say if you're going into a public place and you're wearing baggy clothes, people tend to look at you differently, don't they? Or you could be wearing all nice clothes, but you got a hat or something like that--people are still judging you, regardless, don't you think?

I don't understand why it goes on so much, but it does. Probably more than we even think. Who knows--even your closest friends could judge you, say, if you change your clothing style or something like that.

So, is this a problem? Should people be judged by how they dress? Isn't this a free society where people are at liberty to dress as they wish without being judged or discriminated against? If you think this is true, where do you draw the line? What if someone dressed in swastikas and other Nazi garb? Is that okay, or no? What if girls choose to dress in very short shorts and and low-cut shirts? Should they be judged for that? How about if someone insists on wearing the same clothes every day of the year without ever washing them? That okay, or should it be?

Thanks for your help.

You should not be judged by the clothes you ware but the clothes you do ware say alot about yourself. If your trying to get a job you probely shouldnt ware sweat pants and a t-shirt. When people dont know you your clothes are one thing to judge. Im not saying its right but it happens.

No, you should not be judged by the way you dress. Its kind of like the saying "never judge a book by its cover". you should get to know someone before judging them about their clothes.

I understand if someone were to judge someone else by what they were wearing if someone came into a fancy restaurant with jeans with holes, and shirts that shows your stomach and what not but if your not going anything important then it doesn't matter what a person wears.

I feel that people should not be judged by the clothes they wear. The reason why i say that because i have seen in many of cases of where the person who have the less expensive clothes in the room but have the most money in the bank. Also knew a realter who owned most of kankakee housing but dress in a work outfit everyday and was bring in about million dollars year in revenue a year. Thats why i don't judge people by the way they dress.

It depends on the situation on where you are. I was at a wedding recently and there was a person who wanted to go shirtless and show off all his tatoos and piercings. I didn't think that was appropriate, nor would it be appropriate to do that at church. If you want to express yourself at other places then I think that is fine. A lot of time I think these are people who are looking for attention.

I do not believe that you should be judged by the clothes you were. I think each person should be unique. The clothes you wear are your own personal preference.

There should be some lines that are drawn though. People should not come to class in Nazi clothes. If people do not want to be judged, that would make it kind of hard for them not to. That was a major deal in our country and a lot of people would not feel that it is appropriate.

This question is hard to answer but its not? lol I feel like we dress the way we feel and according to the amount of attention we want. The people who wear their hair in a mo hawk or pants down to their butt want people to know that thats the kind of person they are. If they didnt they would dress the way society wants them to dress. Being a girl I judge a lot, but its hard not to.I'm a server and I am constantly judged, if its not on my performance its on the way I look. It isnt right but we cant really change the way people think.

I agree with that no one should be judged for what they wear, but it is a human instinct to judge and make assumptions, is really hard not to. Growing up I didn't have choice on alot of clothes because of my families financial situation so I didn't like to be judged but I had to deal with it, I feel that that the best way to deal with that is confronting, if they coward to talk behind your back they are to coward to do anything to confront them. I also feel that most of the people that tend to do the judging is wealthy people, maybe I'm right maybe I'm wrong but that has happned to more then ones and that's why I got that assumption. All I can say from personal experience is that money gives people a big mouth, money can save them for an ass kicking. The moral of the story is be careful who you judge cuz you might get your ass kicked.

You shouldn't be judged by the way you dress or look but unfortunately we live in a world where we have the right to judge people and as Americans we use that right alot

I don't think you should be judged for the way you dress. Yet I also think you should dress properly on certain occasions. Like a formula dinner or dance or when you are working and simple things like that.

I think people just need to keep themselves busy by gossiping about what someone is wearing, thats not judging its having an opinion. which I think is harmless, but no reason to take things beyond your opinion to then judging people, and making assumptions about their lifestyle.

no you should not be judged by the cloths you were it doesnt matterr what style you have everone is uniq in there own way and should not be judged for what they like. it is also wrong to judge someone even if you do not agree with them or with what they are wearing but everyone is allowed to exspress themselves the way they want and they should not be judged for it.

I don't believe you should be judged by the clothes you wear. I do believe this is supposed to be a free country and people should be at will to dress how they please. Nobody should be judged on what they wear, for some it is an expression of how they feel, other it maybe they do not have the money to go spend on nice clothing, like others may have. As far as hats and sunglasses, I think that may go to some extreme as well. I can see it not be allowed in banks, but in regular stores while shopping or whatever it maybe, it should not be a big deal.

I really do not care what other people think of me. My personal style of dress is a reflection of my personality. I can say I refuse to judge others because I have been so harshly judged. Yes, there have been instances where people have stared at my mode of dress, even made comments, again I dont care. Often my hair is what people notice the most, I wear alot of wigs and change my style. They may say 'oh, your hair color is so cute' Thanks, or 'did you change your hair it looks different' yeah,ok, Thanks.

Key for me...Judge less you be judged. Thats all I need.

no,i dont think a person should judge anyone because usally they never want to be judged themselves. when i guy approches me i do look at them diffrently if there wearing baggy jeans, but i never judged them its just that in the neighborhood i grew up in ive always seen hustlas and lillte boy wear baggy jeans ive never one time time seen a man working a corprate job wearing baggy jeans. and i dont know if you would consider this judging or not but i dont only because i used to live in the hood and ive seen both sides as apposed to a person whos only seen one side of a guy.

I believe that you should not be judged by the clothes you wear I mean thats not people's place in society to judge some one else but we do it anyways also in our constitution we have the freedom of choice and what you wear is your choice. Yes it is a problem but you can not make people not judge others I feel like the situation starts with you if you do not judge people and others see what your doing then maybe they will do the same. Based on my religion I believe it is ok sometimes you do have to tell people but it is a certain way that you go about doing that and maybe if they are in short shorts how do you know if thats all they have to wear or maybe they dont know any better. so before you judge someone you should get to kow them first because you never know who you might run into.
